Oral Health, Eye Health, and Diabetes: How they’re connected, and the importance of preventive care
Oral health doesn’t stop with the condition of your mouth, teeth, and gums. It goes beyond the obvious and can affect other areas of your body — even your eyes. For example, the American Academy of Ophthalmology reports that oral infections, especially those related to periodontal disease, may cause inflammation in the optic nerve and have a negative impact on eye health.1 Furthermore, oral issues like decay can trigger eye conditions like glaucoma, and even a minor tooth infection can cause pain and swelling if it spreads to your eyes.
Join us to as our speakers explain what employers can do to shed light on this often-overlooked relationship and help their workforce maintain healthy teeth, gums, and eyes.
