Guardian Designated a ‘Best Place to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality’ by Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index
New York, NY, January 28, 2022 – The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America® (Guardian), one of the nation’s largest mutual life insurers and a leading provider of employee benefits, has earned a perfect score of 100 in the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index and in recognition of its commitment to inclusion and diversity has been designated a 2022 “Best Place to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality.” Guardian joins the ranks of a record-breaking 842 major U.S. businesses that also earned top marks this year.
HRC’s Corporate Equality Index is a national benchmarking survey that evaluates corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ+ workplace equality, including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBTQ+ community.
“Receiving this honor once again reflects our continued commitment to the LGBTQ+ community and the inclusive culture we are working to build at Guardian. It is critical to us that our colleagues represent the diversity of our current and future client base,” says Chief Human Resources Officer Stacey Hoin. “Diversity will help us accelerate impact and lead change as we build a truly distinctive and inclusive culture.”
Previously, Guardian was one of the first to sign the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion Pledge – a commitment to advance programs that cultivate inclusive working environments across corporate America. Guardian also raised its overall supplier diversity spend and for the first time documented the portion allocated to small businesses owned by those who identify as LGBTQ+.
